Summary
Department of Orthopedic Surgery is seeking a Podiatrist to provide excellent patient care and technical skills. Job Duties
- Develop and implement plans to ensure comprehensive, timely, and high-quality patient care services with maximum operating efficiency.
- Participate in College and Hospital community outreach activities to promote the Department, Division, BCM, and the medical center.
- Ensure safe and effective care for patients adhering to policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, productivity, and accuracy of practice.
- Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory and continuing education and skills competency.
- Support the Department, Baylor Medicine, and Hospital goals through active participation in committees, task forces, and other organizational initiatives that contribute to the success of the organization.
- Serve as a preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced faculty, staff, and learners.
Minimum Qualifications
Educational & Training Requirements
- Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree
- 3-year Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency (PMSR)
Licensing & Certifications
- Active, unrestricted State Professional License
- Active DEA registration (for controlled substances)
- CPR/BLS certification
Clinical Scope & Capabilities
- Primary foot care (nail/callus/wart debridement)
- Managing basic bio-mechanical issues and custom orthotics
- Treating minor infections and skin conditions
Maximum Qualifications
- Educational & Training Requirements
- Standard DPM degree
- 3-year PMSR with added Rearfoot Reconstructive/Ankle (RRA) surgery credentials
- Advanced post-residency fellowship (e.g., sports medicine, diabetic limb salvage)
Licensing & Certifications
- Board Certified by the ABFAS or ABPM
- Active hospital admitting privileges
- Extensive peer-reviewed surgical case logs
Clinical Scope & Capabilities
- Complex rearfoot, ankle, and total joint reconstruction
- Advanced wound care and surgical limb salvage
- Managing a high-volume clinical and surgical caseload
