Summary

The Kommagani Laboratory in the Department of Pathology at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking highly motivated candidates for a Postdoctoral Associate position. Postdoctoral Associate will join a multidisciplinary research team focused on advancing the understanding of gynecological diseases, with a particular emphasis on endometriosis.

The Kommagani Laboratory was among the first to establish a causal role for the microbiome in endometriosis and continues to lead innovative efforts to develop microbiota-based diagnostics and therapeutics. The lab is seeking Posdoctoral Associate who are passionate about discovery, driven by scientific curiosity, and eager to make meaningful contributions to women's health. This position offers an exciting opportunity to utilize cutting edge approaches in mouse models and human clinical samples to investigate the causal roles of the microbiota and microbiota-derived metabolites in the pathogenesis of endometriosis. The Postdoctoral Associate will work at the interface of reproductive biology, immunology, microbiology, metabolism, and translational medicine.

Job Duties

• Engages and supports member of the laboratory, with the motivation to grow as an independent scientist while contributing to the collective success of the team.
• Contributes to the development of microbiota-based diagnostics and therapeutic strategies for endometriosis and women's health disorders.
• Designs, plans, and executes research studies focused on the mechanisms underlying endometriosis and other gynecological disorders.
• Utilizes mouse models, human clinical specimens, and advanced molecular, cellular, microbiome, metabolomics, and immunology approaches to investigate disease pathogenesis.
• Collects, analyzes, interprets, and presents experimental data in laboratory meetings, scientific conferences, and manuscripts.
• Maintains accurate experimental records and data for manuscripts.
• Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team of basic scientists, clinicians, computational biologists.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
• No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD in life sciences obtained within the last 2 years.
• Experience in microbiome research is a plus.
• Experience in cell and molecular biology area with emphasis on microbiome.
