What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to support the FENG and Isolator Test and Final Assembly Value Stream

On any given day, you may be called on to:

Facilitate the FENG and Isolator Test and Final Assembly Value Stream to achieve successful outcomes and to employ work practices that are compliant with Explosives Accreditation requirements operating under a COE. Using Plan-Do-Check-Act and defect prevention principles and methodologies, enables a broad range of continuous performance improvement activities. Uses systems and process methodologies to provide input for optimizing programs, policy, and enterprise functions. Develops and recommends processes for decision making and program design and execution. Performs analyses, conducts investigations, formulates, and recommends corrective and preventive actions for specific issues, including training management. Develops and monitors performance metrics. Supports organization Quality Management System.

  • Provides guidance to achieve or retain explosives accreditation.
  • Determines whole-system quality-related requirements, including program functions, customer needs, supplier input, and system controls.
  • Establishes, maintains, and improves quality policies, processes, procedures, and tools.
  • Develops and manages performance metrics and conducts data analysis to evaluate the success of end-to-end processes and quality improvement initiatives. Tracks, trends, monitors, and reports on performance results.
  • Develops business cases and recommends priorities and actions for improvement.
  • Assesses processes and systems and conducts risk analysis, root cause analysis, corrective or preventive actions, lessons learned, and benchmarking. Tracks corrective and preventive actions to completion.
  • Provides written reports on completed assessments.
  • Assists customers with corporate Quality issue management systems and close out of corrective actions in those systems.
  • Assists organization with preparing for external audits/assessments.
  • Executes performance assurance processes in compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinates and communicates feedback to owners of performance assurance policies.
  • Contributes to strategic planning activities and facilitates management reviews.
  • Ensures operation and continuous improvement of document control and records management processes.

Due to the nature of work, successful candidate must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range:

$87,400 - $168,800

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline plus five or more years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Experience using Microsoft Suite
  • Active DOE Q level security clearance or equivalent.

About Our Team:

Neutron Generator Test and Final Assembly, performs development, qualification, surveillance, and continuous production activities related to Neutron Generator Assembly (NGA) diagnostic units and final NGA shippable deliverables. We support the development, qualification, surveillance, and continuous production activities related to Neutron Generator Assembly (NGA) diagnostic units, and final NGA shippable entities. For continuous production, we support the definition and execution of processes required for explosive functional testing, NGA product data analysis, final preparation, assembly and packaging of Neutron Generator Assemblies (NGAs) prior to shipment, and product quality assurance. We conduct a range of highly-specialized activities necessary to deliver Neutron Generator products and product assurance. We strive to meet or exceed our customer's expectations by consistently providing the highest quality products on time to meet customer schedules. The department's specialized capabilities include the functional testing of explosive and radioactive/non-rad NG assemblies and components; the mechanical assembly, marking, encapsulation and thermal conditioning of explosive NG/A components; and product quality assurance and acceptance.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.
