Job Description

Summary

The Patient Affairs Specialist verifies and reviews eligibility, coverage and critical insurance information for charges before claim filing while demonstrating exceptional customer service skills in interactions with patients, providers, BCM staff, insurance companies, and all other parties.

Job Duties

  • Reviews and corrects errors on charges for past dates of service before claim submission.
  • Investigates and verifies insurance coverage and eligibility for past charges.
  • Documents detailed benefit verification information.
  • Reviews accounts for missing or incorrect insurance information and makes the appropriate corrections.
  • Attaches pcp referral and authorization approvals to charges before claim submission
  • Answers Insurance Verification inquiries to resolves insurance issues for patients and clinical departments.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Epic.
  • Experience with insurance portals.
  • Experience verifying eligibility.
