What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a Technical Systems Analyst to work with international and domestic partners to develop systems to protect radiological and nuclear materials. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to provide leadership in identifying issues and creating, validating, communicating, and implementing innovative strategies to accomplish a broad range of programmatic goals in collaboration with sponsors and partners.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

• Integrate with law enforcement, military, and first responders, specifically to protect mobile source materials. This requires a strong background in commercial vehicle regulations and requirements for the transportation of radioactive materials.
• Support radiological response programs that include national- and site-level response force, tabletop exercises, alarm response, regulations development and radioactive shipment requirements and regulations.
• Design physical protection and security systems, as well as conduct vulnerability analyses and acceptance testing.
• Collaborate with internal business partners, including proposals, instructional system design, business processes, and write technical writings.
• Develop and apply program management skills to evaluate and report status of cost, schedule and performance to management and customers; provide frequent presentations and written reports to a variety of audiences.

The selected applicant can be a remote worker located in any U.S. State or District of Columbia. Regular or periodic travel to your assigned work location may be required.

Salary Range:

Qualifications We Require:

• Master's degree in a relevant field, plus one (1) or more years of directly related experience; Or Bachelor's in a relevant field plus five (5) years of directly related experience.
• Experience in the following:
• Response program security for radiation detection, mobile sources and/or facilities
• Law Enforcement and/or Military Security.
• Program or project leadership.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q-level security clearance.

Qualifications We Desire:

• Experience implementing the Office of Radiological Security (ORS) response integration program.
• Familiarity with NNSA's Global Material Security programs, content, approach, and priorities.
• Certification as a Public Safety Bomb Technician (PSBT) and Tactical Bomb Technician (TBT), or equivalent credentials.
• Demonstrated experience with advanced explosive ordnance disposal operations, including participation in or leadership of high-level render safe teams.
• Experience with supervision and coordination to responses to hazardous device incidents, including suspicious powders and potential explosive threats.
• Experience planning and conducting comprehensive security sweeps of venues for explosive and radiological threats.
• Familiarity with federal-level bomb technician certification standards and ongoing recertification processes.
• Strong knowledge of explosive detection, render safe procedures, and safety protocols in both law enforcement and national security contexts.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multi-agency teams and support complex security operations.
• Demonstrated versatility, political savvy, and high tolerance for ambiguity.
• Knowledge of nuclear and radioactive materials and their applications.
• Experience implementing a systematic approach to training to foster sustainability.
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work on multi-disciplinary teams and within the DOE Complex to deliver results.
• Ability and willingness to frequently travel domestically and internationally.

About Our Team:

We are a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and technical specialists that enable and enhance physical and cyber security systems to protect and/or detect and recover nuclear and radiological materials worldwide. We collaborate with many organizations to leverage technologies and resources for multiple programs and are an integral capability of 6820, Global CBRN Security. Department 6822 develops and nurtures Systems Analysis, Research and Development, Capacity Building, and Response capabilities in the nuclear and radiological materials security context.

Position Information:

This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.

Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
