Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, you will function as a trainee and gain knowledge in packaging,preparingand distributing medications, inventory control, customerserviceandmaintainingpharmacy records. After 12 months, youwill havesuccessfullycompletedandreceiveda diploma in Pharmacy Technology from the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology Program.
A caregiver in this position works a 16-week schedule, Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Prepare medications (selection, labeling, repackaging, non-sterilecompoundingand sterile compounding).
- Deliver medications toappropriate storagelocations.
- Maintainaccurateandappropriateinventoriesof medications and supplies.
- Maintain a safe and clean work area bycomplying withprocedures,rulesand regulations.
- Document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities, and training inan accurateandtimelymanner.
- Attend and activelyparticipatein teamhuddlesand meetings.
- Use information systems,technologyand automation to complete assigned tasks.
- Maintain good standing in the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology Program per the student handbook.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Successful completion of the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology program within 12 months of hire
- Upon hire, registration as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy. Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy is required within 12 months
- Must obtain Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) within 12 months
- Basic computer skills
Physical Requirements:
Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, walking, reaching, stretching and sitting for prolonged periods; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing, and compounding.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $15.00
Maximum hourly: $150.00
