Bath Health and Wellness Center is looking to add a Lifeguard to their team of Lifestyles caregivers. The Lifeguardis responsible forproviding a safe, sanitary environment that encourages members to use theLifeStylesfacility for fitness, relaxation and recreation and improving individual swimming and water safety skills. This role will help youto developyour water safety skills, potentially leading to becoming a Water Safety Instructor (WSI), Lifeguard Instructor (LGI)or Lead Lifeguard.
A caregiver in this position works varying shifts between the hours of 5:30AM – 10:00PM.Bath Health and Wellness will be the primary work location, but floating to other sites such as Green and Stow will beavailable.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Never leave the pool unattended during patron usage hours.
Arrive atan appropriate timein order tochange, check message board andStrantrolthe pool area for safety hazards.
Perform all daily and closing duties such as chemical testing and reporting, managing pool space, keeping the pool deck swept and picked up, promoting programs, puttingawayor turning off all equipment and locking all doors at the end of the day.
Provide preventive lifeguard duties during open swim, lapswimor scheduled programs.
Guard froman appropriate station(e.g., guard chair, poolsideor roving station) with the best view of the pools and near the most at-risk swimmers.
Use the sit,standand stroll method of guarding whenappropriate.
Enforce rules to prevent injury and upset members.
Get to knowmembersaquatic needs and potential emergency concerns.
Maintain all certifications,knowsthe Emergency Action Plan for fire safety, inclement weather, accidents, injuries, etc. anddemonstrateknowledge during in-services and drills.
Assistthe aquatic department inmaintainingequipment and cleanliness.
Attend and positively contribute to mandatory in-services when scheduled.
Maintain personal swim skills and fitnesslevel.
Teach quality swim lessons or lead quality programs by preparing daily lesson plans according to Red Cross orLifeStylescurriculum that are fun, goal-oriented and timeappropriate.
Take daily attendance and ensure the safety of all participants.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High SchoolEducation
Currentnationally-recognizedcertification for Lifeguard Training and First Aid
Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer from theAmerican Red Cross (or equivalent provider)
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Current Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification
Interest in becoming certified to teach swim lessons
Physical Requirements:
Ability to maneuver, carry, lift, bend, stoop, swim, walk and sit for extended periods of time.
Ability to manage/lift backboard for life-saving activities.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $15.25
Maximum hourly: $19.60
