Job Description

Summary

The section of Gastroenterology & Hepatology is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated scheduler to schedule Gastroenterology procedures.

The position requires patient education and navigation through the patient's journey, including prepping patients for the procedure and scheduling the procedure with BCM & BSLMC EMR. The candidate will also triage patients by working with providers and clinical team for any referrals that could be scheduled as a clinic visit or procedure. The candidate will register the patient in both EMRs, review incoming referrals and orders, and answer patient calls and/or MyChart Messages.

The candidate will work Monday to Friday, 8 hours daily. The ideal candidate will be organized, motivated, and passionate about providing excellent customer service to our patients.

Job Duties

  • Reviews all incoming referrals and orders for accuracy and completeness.
  • Triages referrals to determine clinic vs. procedure needs.
  • Schedules appointments/procedures in BCM and BSLMC for all referred patients.
  • Coordinates with the referral center to resolve referral issues.
  • Contacts patients with pre‑procedure instructions and appointment details.
  • Requests missing information from referring physicians as needed.
  • Works with the endoscopy coordination team to fill block time.
  • Manages the order work queue and schedule based on referral requirements.
  • Collaborates with MDs on special instructions and clearances.
  • Cross‑checks for scheduling or procedural conflicts.
  • Verifies patient identity and key information across documentation.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Procedure scheduling experience.
