Job Description

Summary

Supports community outreach, volunteer participant registry recruitment, CNRC study recruitment, education initiatives, and communication efforts related to research activities at the Children’s Nutrition Research Center (CNRC). This role facilitates engagement with community partners, disseminates research-based resources, and helps expand awareness of CNRC research opportunities.

Work is primarily based at the Children’s Nutrition Research Center (CNRC) , with routine travel to community locations.

Job Duties

Volunteer Participant Registry (VPR) and Recruitment Support

  • Maintains the VPR RedCap online registry by promptly detecting and correcting duplicate registrations and contacting those whose registrations are incomplete or inaccurate.
  • Collaborates with research coordinators and supports and/or facilitates their recruitment strategies.
  • Coordinates with CNRC Website Committee to promote the volunteer participant registry.
  • Maintains the Nutrition & Your Child LISTSERV by adding, deleting and/or correcting entries when needed.

Community Outreach and Engagement

  • Builds and maintains relationships with community organizations that support children, families, and health.
  • Builds and maintains a database of community partners and tracks engagement activities.
  • Coordinates and delivers community presentations and educational events focused on child nutrition.
  • Attends community and health events at schools, churches, hospitals, community centers, health fairs, etc. to increases visibility and promote research at the CNRC.
  • Conducts community speaking engagements and events related to child nutrition.

Communications and Educational Materials

  • Coordinates with the CNRC Digital Communications Committee to promote outreach events and speaking engagements.
  • Creates, updates, and disseminates education materials derived from CNRC research using a variety of media formats; maintains libraries of educational materials.
  • Researches and implements best practices for the management of education resources.
  • Coordinates with CNRC Website Committee to disseminate educational and recruitment materials.

Community Advisory Board Coordination

  • Recruits and maintains a Community Advisory Board (CAB) to support CNRC research activities.
  • Serves as the primary contact for CAB meetings.
  • Serves as a liaison between the CAB and CNRC faculty.
  • Prepares agendas, maintains minutes and shares feedback with CNRC investigators.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Travels to community engagement and recruitment events, as needed.
  • Participates in regularly scheduled meetings of the Community Engagement and Recruitment Core Committee.
  • Interaction with patients, families, and staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Five years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • At least two years of experience in public health, community engagement, or public health communications
  • Proficiency in REDCap, Excel, Access, Salesforce, or similar software
  • Ability to drive to community events; lift and carry engagement materials (up to 50 lbs); and climb stairs as needed
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as necessary
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills, initiative, and the ability to meet deadlines

Working Conditions and Occupational Risks:


• Work primarily occurs at the CNRC with routine travel to community locations.
