Job Summary
Works closely with Information Analysis team, key functional/business units, and Information Technology colleagues to support the implementation, ongoing enhancement and maintenance of enterprise data and analytics platform.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks
Gather and analyze requirements in order to develop appropriate solutions to meet user requirements.
Collaborate with team members and key business units to design and develop data warehouse models and automated processes supporting the deployment of complex, strategic, and interactive dashboards, visualizations, reports, and analyses.
Collaborate with team members to validate reports, analyses, and other data products generated by other team members to ensure quality of all departmental publications.
Coordinate with IT developers to design, develop and thoroughly document ETL processes to support strategic data analytics needs.
Utilize existing and future query, coding, Business Intelligence and reporting tools to gather, analyze, visualize and publish data.
Assist in exploring, developing, and documenting legacy and new internal and external source of data.
Assist in BI system testing, including data quality assurance, performance, and usability.
Work with end users to gather requirements, develop solutions in a collaborative manner, troubleshoot issues in the data, and enhance existing solutions as user requirements evolve.
Assist in responding to ad hoc data requests, as needed.
Actively pursue professional development and growth opportunities. May serve on University or System work groups or committees related to reporting and data analytics.
Actively participate in institutional data governance, data management processes and complete other duties as assigned.
Leverage AI tools to improve operational efficiency, while safeguarding sensitive data.
Required Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
Five years of experience in business intelligence, information technology, analytics, or similar unit.
Demonstrated experience and skill using a variety of software, database, and data analysis tools at the enterprise level (Microsoft SSMS/SSRS/SSAS/SSIS, Power BI, Cognos, Tableau, SAS, SPSS, etc.).
Experience in reporting from PeopleSoft Human Capital Management, Finance Management System, or Campus Solutions is preferred.
Strong analytical, technical, and communication skills with the talent to apply these skills as a member of a team.
Preferred Education/Experience
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Statistics, or related field is preferred.
Five or more years of experience in areas such as data warehousing, data management, data modeling or predictive analytics in a higher education setting is preferred.
Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies
High attention to detail, strong analytical skills and a demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office, databases and common data analysis and visualization tools.
Proficiency in writing queries and scripts using common tools such as SAS, R, SQL Developer, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and learn new tools as needed.
Able to balance multiple projects, to organize workflow, and to meet deadlines.
Work well in a team and independently with minimal direct supervision.
Highly adaptable to changing demands and priorities.
Able to independently problem-solve and research solutions to challenges.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
