The College of Health Sciences includes seven departments (Communicative Disorders, Human Development and Family Science, Kinesiology, Nutrition, Physical Therapy, Psychology, and Public Health), as well as the Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, and the Program in Gerontology. The College offers seven undergraduate degrees with a total enrollment of 2,460 students. The College offers eight master’s degree programs and four doctoral degree programs with a total graduate enrollment of 264 graduate students. There are 90 faculty members in the college.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Serve as a member of the College’s Administrative Leadership Team. Help lead the development and direction of the College’s research and scholarship activities. Cultivate externally funded, faculty-led programs of research with an emphasis on NIH, NSF and major foundation funding.
Duties and Responsibilities
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In collaboration with the Dean and College leadership, provide vision and leadership in planning, goal setting, implementing, and evaluating the College’s research agenda and growth plan.
Regularly assess and report on research productivity in the College to help guide strategic planning
Assist and advise the Dean, College of Health Sciences, on all matters relating to the College’s research and scholarship.
Collaborate with the Chief Business Officer to support the smooth functioning of the pre/post award process.
Develop faculty mentoring programs to advance their success in developing and sustaining a fundable research program across the broad range of disciplines in the College of Health Sciences.
Mentor PhD students in the development of grant proposals.
Serve as a resource for the College in interpreting relevant rules and regulations and liaise with other University entities responsible for research.
Facilitate and participate in the development of new and exciting research initiatives/collaborations of relevance to diverse stakeholders from the University, government, and others outside of the University.
Coordinate with other Associate Deans for Research and the office of the VP for Research and Economic Development in supporting University-wide research initiatives.
Maintain a robust program of externally funded research at the R01 or equivalent level.
Engage in teaching as appropriate.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform other duties as required and assigned.
LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:
Personal computers and printers, electronic mail, word processing, database management, spreadsheet software, research statistical and data analysis software as needed.
Required Qualifications
REQUIRED:
1. PhD or equivalent research-focused degree in a health-related field.
2. Sustained track record of NIH or equivalent funding.
3. Current external research funding.
4. Achievement of teaching, scholarship, and service commensurate with appointment at the rank of Professor eligible for tenure.
5. Sustained publication record.
6. Supervisory experience.
7. Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
8. Proficiency in written communication skills.
9. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
10. Experience working collaboratively.
