TheDepartment of Medical Oncology &Therapeutics Researchis instrumental in this scientific effort to develop cancer drugs that can give patients their best possible chance to survive and thrive after their diagnoses. Working closely with the City of Hope comprehensive cancer center'sDevelopmentalCancerTherapeuticsProgramand other scientists in the City of Hope Beckman Institute, our multidisciplinary program includes basic, translational and clinical research, and fosters collaborations among scientists and clinicians. The goal of this synergistic effort is to spark novel ideas that turn into new laboratory discoveries and become established life-saving medicines.

The Department Chair of Medical Oncology and Therapeutics Research will be hands-on and grow the scale and level of excellence of the department in clinical and research areas. This Leader will be a highly regarded physician and academic leader with a collaborative, team-based leadership style, and the ability to build relationships and lead through influence. He/She must also be operationally savvy, with the business acumen and cultural sensitivity to lead within a complex matrixed environment.The Department Chair will be responsible for clinical, academic, and administrative activities of the department and its divisions. The successful candidate must possess a breadth of skills, including deep knowledge of clinical practice, and a strong commitment to training and career development of faculty.

As Chair, you will:

  • Define the strategic vision for solid tumor clinical and research programs across Southern California and our expanding national network, in partnership with executive leadership and physician leaders.

  • Create signature clinical programs that set new standards of excellence and distinguish City of Hope as a global leader in oncology.

  • Advance translational and interdisciplinary research, accelerating discoveries from bench to bedside.

  • Recruit and inspire world-class faculty and leaders, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and academic distinction.

  • Champion educational excellence, elevating training programs to attract and develop the next generation of oncology leaders.

  • Drive enterprise-wide quality initiatives, improving patient outcomes, experience, and operational performance.

  • Engage in philanthropic efforts, securing resources to fuel groundbreaking research and clinical innovation.

  • Collaborate across disciplines, integrating services to deliver seamless, patient-centered care.

Position Benefits:

· Excellent benefits package, including a generous retirement contribution plan

· Relocation assistance is available

· Base Salary Range:$500,000 - $800,000.The range listed will be contingent and tailored to the reputation and experience of the individual hired. The base salary is a general estimate and is exclusively for base compensation for full-time employment and does not include incentive compensation or benefits. The position includes generous recruitment incentives and participation in a generous leadership incentive program.
