City of Hope in Corona is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Clinical Nurse IV to join our outpatient oncology team. This role is responsible for coordinating comprehensive care for medical oncology and infusion patients, ensuring seamless delivery of high-quality, patient-centered services across the continuum of care.

The Clinical Nurse IV will assist in care coordination, provide patient education regarding treatment plans and symptom management, and oversee referrals and authorization processes to support timely access to services. This nurse will manage in-basket messages and triage non-emergent patient calls, applying advanced clinical judgment to assess needs and facilitate appropriate interventions.

Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team that includes medical oncologists, a social worker, and the nurse manager, the Clinical Nurse IV serves as a clinical resource and leader in the outpatient setting. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong clinical expertise in oncology, great time management and critical thinking along with exceptional communication skills, and the ability to effectively prioritize and manage complex patient needs in a fast-paced environment.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Strong oncology and infusion knowledge (chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy)

  • Symptom assessment and management skills

  • Ability to recognize and escalate urgent/emergent conditions appropriately

  • Solid understanding of treatment plans and supportive care needs

  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary care

  • Knowledge of referral processes and authorization oversight

  • Ability to streamline communication between providers, patients, and support services

  • Strong follow-through to ensure continuity of care

  • Skilled in telephone triage and non-emergent call management

  • Advanced clinical judgment and prioritization skills

  • Ability to manage high-volume in-basket messaging efficiently and safely

  • Sound decision-making under pressure

  • Clear, compassionate patient education skills

  • Ability to explain complex oncology treatments in understandable terms

  • Strong written communication for documentation and electronic messaging

  • Professional collaboration with physicians, social workers, and leadership

  • Serves as a clinical resource for staff

  • Demonstrates initiative and accountability

  • Ability to mentor or guide less experienced nurses

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

  • Commitment to patient-centered care and quality outcomes

  • Proficiency with EMR systems (in-basket management)

  • Familiarity with outpatient clinic workflows

  • Understanding of regulatory and compliance standards

  • Schedule: Monday – Friday 745am – 4:15pm

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in nursing is required.
  • Current California RN license.
  • Minimum of three (3) years related experience, preferred background in oncology nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Card through American Heart Association
  • ONS Chemotherapy/ Biotherapy Certificate or Chemotherapy/ Immunotherapy Certificate (Must be obtained within 6 months of hire)

  • Current National certification, must be maintained to retain CN IV status (effective February 22, 2022).

  • COH (Nursing Excellence Department and HR) maintain a list of approved certifications which is a subset of ANCC Magnet-recognized certifications as updated in ANCC Demographic Data Collection Tool® (DDCT).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a caring and empathetic demeanor.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $66.58 - $96.54 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
