Job Description

The Mills Lab at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School is recruiting a research technician to study metabolite signaling and innate immune function in models of sterile and classical inflammatory disease. The lab uses mass spectrometry (MS) approaches to understand metabolite signaling at the cellular and whole-body level to explore how metabolism intersects with immune cell function. We are seeking an individual excited to study metabolomics and immunology. The successful candidate will assist with general lab management, maintenance of animal colonies, preparation of reagents and samples, and ordering of lab supplies. Additionally, applicants will work closely with all members of the lab, participate, and present in lab meetings, and have the opportunity to pursue an individual research project and co-author publications.

We are looking for candidates who have at least one year of availability.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintenance and management of animal colonies.
  • Genotyping and handling of animals.
  • Preparation of common laboratory solutions and reagents.
  • Cleaning and maintaining laboratory equipment and work areas.
  • Ordering lab supplies and communicating with vendors.
  • Preparation of samples for MS analysis.
  • The opportunity to pursue an individual research project related to innate immunity and metabolite signaling.
  • Learning experimental design and literature review.
  • Maintenance of a detailed notebook of protocols and research activities.
  • Analysis of experimental data and interpretation of results.
  • Participation in lab meetings and working closely with all members of the lab.
  • Management of lab safety and communicate and working with Environmental Health and Safety.
  • Bachelor's Degree required in molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, or related field.
  • Prior lab experience.
  • Must be reliable and organized.
  • Must be self-motivated to work independently and work positively as part of a research group.
  • Knowledge of information and techniques related to either biology, chemistry, or medicine is preferred.
  • Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and be able to work with a wide variety of faculty and staff.
  • Must have attention to detail and be thorough in completing work tasks.

Pay Transparency Statement

The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidate’s relevant experience, skills and qualifications.

For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
