Job Description

We're evolving the acquisition engine that powers how hundreds of millions of users discover and adopt Microsoft 365 Copilot. As a Principal Software Engineering Manager, you'll lead a full-stack team that rapidly ships experiments and features, learns from data, and scales successful patterns across the Microsoft 365 suite (Copilot Chat, Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and more). You'll combine deep technical judgment with product-led growth (PLG) practices to improve monetization while investing in modern engineering fundamentals that enable rapid, safe iteration.

What makes this role unique:

  • Massive surface area & impact: Your work directly shapes how customers discover, try, and adopt Copilot across Microsoft 365.
  • Engineering for velocity: You'll modernize fundamentals (tooling, pipelines, telemetry) to shorten the idea-to-data loop and safely scale experimentation.
  • AI at the core: You'll lead the adoption of agentic workflows in engineering (from code to ops), keeping the team at the forefront of the industry shift.
  • Collaborate in a true One Microsoft fashion: Partner with worldclass PMs, designers, data scientists, and engineering teams across the company to land high leverage, cross-suite solutions.
  • Strategic business alignment: You’ll make technical investments that support measurable business outcomes, balancing business priorities with engineering goals to maximize customer value and impact.

How we work:

  • Customer-obsessed & data-informed: We form bold hypotheses, ship safely, measure rigorously, and iterate.
  • Engineering excellence: We invest in tests, telemetry, agentic coding enablement, and continuous hardening to earn the right to go faster.
  • Inclusive at our core: We welcome diverse perspectives and design accessible experiences for a global audience.
  • Outcomes over output: We celebrate learning and hold ourselves accountable to business and customer impact.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
