Reporting to the Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO) directly, and with a dotted line to the System’s President-City of Hope Los Angeles and National Medical Center (President-NMC), the Deputy Philanthropic Gift Initiatives & Alignment (Deputy) will serve will serve as OOP’s key strategic partner with System leadership and the Transformation office to oversee delivery on a growing portfolio of transformative gift commitments in order to ensure actualization of organizational commitments, monitor progress against defined milestones and ensure donative intent is met.

This portfolio of centers, initiatives and programs funded through multi-year transformative gifts to System-level priorities includes support for our type 1 diabetes program, hematological cancers, immunotherapy, supportive care, integrative oncology, a System-level, centralized biorepository program and the establishment of our second major Southern California campus in Orange County.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Development of a platform for oversight of interdisciplinary centers, programs and initiatives that have been funded by our transformative philanthropy investors.
  • Ensure that System leadership is fully informed and aligned on the objectives and strategic plan for each of these programs and that City of Hope is driving the timely execution of the key milestones and deliverables to which we have committed as an enterprise, nationally.
  • Provides administrative leadership to accomplish strategies designed to develop, enhance and support the various missions of a complex clinical, research and academic center.
  • Strategic planning and oversight of the business affairs of a growing portfolio of large, complex centers, programs and cross-disciplinary initiatives with multiple stakeholders and academic and clinical partners across City of Hope.
  • Establish reporting and accountability expectations for each designated center/initiative/program’s business director, ensure timely and bi-directional communication, foster cross-departmental engagement, and provide facilitation as needed to support each initiative’s administrative and faculty relationships with various business areas throughout City of Hope.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor’s with 10+ years of directly related experience in healthcare administration including 5 years of experience in a supervisory/managerial capacity; or
  • PhD or Master’s with 5+ years of directly related experience in healthcare administration including 2 years of experience in a supervisory/managerial capacity.
  • Must possess knowledge of healthcare delivery systems, research administration, financial planning and forecasts of healthcare operations, quality and performance improvement, budget development and variance reporting, personnel management, marketing, and space and facilities management.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills necessary to communicate and interact with all levels of management and gain the confidence of faculty, staff, leaders, and colleagues. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities, to work autonomously, and organize, coordinate and monitor project work.

Preferred experience:

  • PhD or Master’s Degree (MBA, MHA, MPH) preferred.
  • Progressive experience within an academic medical environment, with clinical administration, complex budget management, and physician administration is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to work with boards of directors, nationally renowned scientists or policy leaders.
  • Proven ability to work with investigators and physicians, and other healthcare leaders.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $79.12 - $132.14 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
