This role will have demonstrated success in building and/or supporting philanthropic relationships while also responsible for ensuring an outstanding, informative, well-planned and executed experience for campus specific philanthropy activities/events. They lead the planning, development, implementation and execution of high touch philanthropy activities, including but not limited to stewardship, cultivation and fundraising tours and events. They will play a lead role in delivering and supporting the strategic mission of the enterprise and be responsible for aligning with the philanthropic vision by effectively planning and communicating the mission, vision, strategic priorities, clinical strengths, innovative research and vital education at City of Hope. The incumbent will have strong written and oral communications skills, exhibited through the development of successful communications. These experiences will have been secured with five or more years of consecutive experience in a non-profit environment, with experience in a complex health care environment preferred.

Under general supervision of the assigned Senior Director or Director of the Philanthropy Event Experience team, assist in developing, planning and implementing new and existing high touch tours and events, independently or as part of a particular campaign. Responsible for planning, management and coordination of designated programs or events. Assist in stewarding key donors and prospects for the direct purpose of supporting the fundraising strategies.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Contributes to program supporting its annual performance goals through individual performance and modeling commitment to our vision.
  • Responsible for ensuring an outstanding, informative, well-planned and executed experience for campus specific philanthropy activities/events in support of the OoP fundraising pipeline.
  • Leads high touch philanthropy events/activities. Duties include, but are not limited to, hospitality, all pre-event coordination, day-of event execution, program logistics, event set-up and breakdown, guest and RSVP list management, and general troubleshooting. Serves as central point of contact for all stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with philanthropy leadership, system department leads, faculty and staff to determine the correct institutional voice for tours, high touch philanthropy activity. This includes: working with identified faculty and staff to hone their voice on tours and at events.
  • Manages the development and maintenance of official Philanthropy high touch impact messaging, and the ongoing inclusion of new initiatives and strategic messaging. Identifies, researches, and partners with Philanthropy Marketing, Campaign Strategy, Donor Experience and the Philanthropy Operations teams to find new information on research and clinical programs and strategic priorities for messaging alignment.
  • Collaborates with managers and leaders across multiple departments to identify the activity goals, key milestones and manage deliverables in support of the high touch tour and event planning.
  • Special projects as assigned, such as assistance in other OoP-led projects; secondary lead fundraising/event manager for OoP
  • Serve as a role model for the Office of Philanthropy. Includes:
    • Act as spokesperson for City of Hope activities as requested.
    • Participate in meetings, search committees, task forces, and other special projects.
    • Maintains a positive image when dealing with executive staff, donors, prospects, fundraisers and other City of Hope employees.
  • Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.

Your qualifications should include:

  • High school diploma.
  • 5 years of related experience (relevant education or related experience in biomedical sciences or health care may be substituted for part of this requirement).
  • Valid California driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Preferably: Bachelor’s degree. Experience in a complex medical or academic development setting encouraged. Strong understanding of the issues, nuances and needs of research, teaching and clinical operations in a complex health sciences research and/or university environment.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $32.00 - $48.82 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
