What Your Job Will Be Like:

The Material Control and Accountability (MC&A) Accounting team has an opening for two Technical Systems Analysts who are highly motivated to help provide safeguards and security tied to our DOE Order 474.2A objectives of deterring and detecting theft and diversion of nuclear material.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Coordinate all aspects of Accountable Nuclear Material at the site level and work with other national laboratories to implement associated system requirements.
  • Plan, forecast, develop and execute technical solutions for Accountable Nuclear Material (ANM) safeguards and security requirements.
  • Develop and maintain compliance with MC&A policies, processes and procedures.
  • Serve as a Sandia SME providing assessment and details for ANM into classified technical systems.
  • Gather information from various sources and apply analytical methods, objective assessments, and expert technical judgement to make recommendations.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business Management or Social Science, plus five (5) years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of relevant education and relevant experience in nuclear material safeguard activities.
  • Must have an active DOE Q-level security clearance or equivalent (ie DOD Top Secret or SCI) to start.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Business Management or Social Science.
  • Experience working with the following:
  • LANMAS system for MC&A Accounting.
  • Tamper indication device programs for nuclear material.
  • Shipments, receipts, and transfer of accountable nuclear materials.
  • Inventory and self-assessment experience in safeguards and security work environments.
  • Experience supporting safeguards and security activities across partner organizations.
  • Technical knowledge and credentials appropriate to the position.

About Our Team:

To support the mission, multiple Sandia organizations acquire, use, and possess accountable nuclear materials. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) requires all sites that possess accountable nuclear materials to establish and maintain nuclear material management (NMM) and Material Control & Accountability (MC&A) programs. Nuclear Material Management programs are designed to ensure that nuclear materials are managed as valuable assets, used appropriately, and disposed of properly when no longer needed. MC&A programs are designed to deter and detect theft and diversion of nuclear material by both outside and inside adversaries. The Nuclear Material Management/MC&A Department develops and implements effective NMM and MC&A programs that are compliant with DOE/NNSA requirements, while supporting line organizations mission objectives.

Posting Duration:

This posting will be open for application submissions for a minimum of seven (7) calendar days, including the ‘posting date’. Sandia reserves the right to extend the posting date at any time.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.

EEO:

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
