The Pharmacy Supervisor, a licensed Pharmacist with expertise in pharmacy practice and administration, holds a crucial position in managing a specific area within pharmacy operations. This encompasses both professional and administrative duties, ensuring the smooth day-to-day functioning of the pharmacy service.

As an integral member of the Pharmacy Operations management team, the Supervisor takes charge of the pharmacist staffing and effectively coordinates the daily work activities, schedules, and assignments of pharmacy staff. Serving as a valuable resource for the assigned team, they guide in skill demonstration, knowledge enhancement, and effective communication. The Supervisor is also committed to offering continuous education, coaching, and mentorship to support ongoing growth and development within the team.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Responsible for reviewing medication orders for appropriateness, processing, and dispensing medications in accordance to organizational requirements.
  • Check products in the sterile and non-sterile areas.
  • Monitor treatments and provides timely follow-up on the clinical effects of the medication regimen with recommendation for adjustments as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes and documents actions.
  • Collaborates with Pharmacy Leadership to develop, implement, and maintain systems that promote safe, effective, and efficient processes.
  • Develop and ensure adherence to policies and procedures for operational areas including controlled substances, Automated Dispensing Cabinets, Compounding areas, distribution and logistics, and other patient care areas.
  • Closely measure and track quality assurance metrics in the assigned area and report trending data to the pharmacy executive leadership team.
  • Maintain and promotes understanding of 340b practices when applicable.
  • Understands non-formulary and prior authorization policies and practices.
  • Guide staff in appropriate practice management, time management, customer service, collaboration, and communication.
  • Actively participates in the education and development of assigned staff, residents and pharmacy students.
  • Provide education to health care providers, including physicians, nurses, as needed.
  • Committed to personal growth and development.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Your qualifications should include:

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Graduate of ACPE-accredited Pharmacy School;
  • Pharmacy Practice Residency (PGY 1) and at least 1 year of experience as a pharmacist in a Hospital setting OR
  • At least 3 years of experience as a pharmacist in a Hospital setting
  • Ambulatory Infusion, preferred

Req. Certification/Licensure:

  • Current CA Pharmacist License.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association or obtain within 90 days of hire date

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $68.71 - $114.74 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
