About the Department
Students’ success in math courses is of paramount importance to their progress towards graduation. It comes as no surprise that by the number of credit hours served, the Department of Mathematics and Statistics is one of the largest at Georgia State University. To facilitate students’ learning, the department offers a variety of courses that range from introductory to upper undergraduate and graduate levels, taught in traditional, emporium, and fully online formats. Some of the courses have become national success models and have attracted visitors from many other universities across the nation.

Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers baccalaureate, masters and doctoral programs, as well as two accelerated dual-degree B.S./M.S. programs
Position Description
Applications are invited for an Academic Professional position in Mathematics and Statistics beginning July 1, 2024. Candidates in all areas of mathematics and statistics are encouraged to apply. Although this is a non-tenure track position, it will be renewable each year for the first five years, subject to annual evaluation and a third-year review, and it has the potential for promotion to senior academic professional after five years and then to principal senior academic professional.

Academic Professional is a 12-month appointment. The responsibilities for the position will include a) teaching, enhancement, and coordination of courses, b) management of the computer laboratory in which the interactive components of courses are conducted, c) creating an environment of academic and professional excellence for students and educational team members, d) maintaining professional relationships with students and colleagues, and e) working on campus 5 days per week whenever the University is open.
Required Experience
At least one year of teaching experience in a university setting.

Required Education
Ph.D. degree in Mathematics or Statistics or a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
Strong desire to work in a collaborative environment;
Experience in supervising a computer laboratory;
Experience with different course modalities, such as face-to-face, hybrid, online synchronous, and online asynchronous.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to teach core undergraduate mathematics courses.
Computer skills and experience with instructional software.
