Job Description

Summary

The Ray Lab is seeking a highly motivated individual to assist with experiments, animal management, and general lab duties. The Ray lab studies the neural circuits governing our behavior and physiology. We utilize automated assays for measuring behavior and physiology in genetic animal models as part of the path of discovery for patient based diagnostics and therapeutics.

Job Duties

  • Performs mouse husbandry including breeding, weaning, euthanasia as needed to maintain multiple mouse strains.
  • PCR genotyping of mouse offspring.
  • Maintains accurate mouse husbandry and genotyping records using database software.
  • Harvests and processes tissue from experimental animals for histology or immunostaining.
  • Assists with ongoing experimental work to include physiological and behavioral testing, data analysis, microscopy, or other tasks as needed.
  • Assists with oversight of supply inventory, procurement and compliance.
  • Manages environmental waste management for the lab.
     

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Experience Required: None Required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience handling lab mice or rats and working with genetically engineered lines, prior experience with basic laboratory techniques, including PCR or histology.
